There's an early entrance into the protected rock jetties at Jervoise Bay - it's better to take the latter entrance a bit farther north so you get more surfing at the end (and avoid getting too close to Naval property). This run was originally starting from Palm Beach, but the protected launch at the Point Peron boat launch is nice.

  • Sandy Cape - Green Head 12 km (The Green Dream) video Ian Kininmonth: “The Green Dream is 12 kilometres of downwind paddling bliss from Sandy Cape to Green Head in Western Australia. It was first discovered by Glen A who was taken to Green Head on a family holiday when he was 6. At the time he was frustrated because the force of the wind kept on blowing away his blow up Flamingo. All was forgotten until he was in his mid 40's when suddenly the memory came back to him in a recurring dream. Night after night he kept screaming out “My Flamingo, get my Flamingo”. At the time he had taken up downwind surfski paddling and knew that the memory was trying to tell him that this place was the Lasseter's Reef of downwind paddling. So year after year he took his family to various locations along the Mid West coast hoping to find this lost downwind course. Then one fateful day in 2022 he climbed over a dune at Green Head with his Flamingo and it was whipped out of his arms by the force of the wind. At that moment he knew he had rediscovered that place he had been to when he was a child. The following week at IOP training he was unable to keep his excitement under wraps, shouting out to anyone who would listen “I've discovered the Lasseter's Reef of downwind paddling”. The rest is, as they say, history.”
