The steel cable in the photo above had been recently inspected and seemed okay, but it was 5 years old. Maybe time to go with dyneema. As a precaution some folks move their dyneema lines a bit each year to change where it may be rubbing on the line in their boats….
If you think there may be any problem remembering how everything should be done/look after you perform cable replacement, take photos of your setup before beginning (or if a connector on one side is somehow incomplete or missing at least take photos of the other side)
