Peter et al-

I absolutely love this event. Rain or shine I will turn out! Connie and I have some friends that have needed the food bank in the past couple of years. They are proud folks and told us that their experience was positive and that they always were treated with respect at the Bham Food Bank. Kudos to all who paddled or sent their thoughts today. The donation results mean so much more than the finish results. Epic conditions and the best company in town!

Big thanks to all on the list Peter sent. Bigger thanks to Peter himself.

paul

also: a final thanks to Marc Whitlock for letting me sit in the “B…” seat of team 205. Lotsa fun!

Peter, AWESOME job once again, bringing good folks together for a good cause. Personally, I loved the weather. Tropically balmy, wet as all get out, flat for the race, polo and demo then a stiff wind moves in, blue sky and rainbows in the afternoon. What is this place, a freeking fairytale? Anyway, thanks again for getting us together and for making it a benefit for a worthy cause. I'm not surprised at all it generated nearly 4X the donations from last year.

Idea for Paddle For Food Relay Race…….NEXT YEAR….

In order to keep racers a little closer…

Besides the first lap, Howat Sr. suggested that each team stops after each lap and we desiginate a point system….1st gets 10 points, 2nd gets 8 points, etc. in each group, and then immediately after the last boat completes the first lap we start the second paddle “group” with a dash to “that” first buoy, and like wise through out the race until lap 7 is complete and we tally up the point total at the end and “presto” we have the top teams! Same strategy is involved in matching boats and paddlers, we just eliminate the relay transition and everyone gets to do mass starts and each boat is still required to do min. two laps! This way teams would have a feel for how they are doing overall on a score board and you would need for an example, maybe only to have to come in 4th in the final heat to win the overall title!

Although I like the relay transition I also like this idea for keeping the race closer………..

What do you think??????

Thanks Again for the 500+ LBS of Food and 2000 Dollars.

Peter
