Well, if the idea was to get people to try new things, Kevin succeeded this evening. With coveted double points on the line for racing OC in the second round of the Hot 5 series, I figured why not. Thanks to Bob McBeath for the Hurricane OC loan and Heather Nelson for the paddle loan. This was my first real OC experience with the exception of a couple of minutes in Peter's boat some time ago. What an experience it was. I swam at the beach but managed to complete the race without another swim. I won't bore you with the race details but I will say this is why paddling in Bellingham is such a great thing. Super supportive folks loaning expensive equipment without hesitation just so we can all have a good time. Thanks again to everyone who stepped up.

Great turnout tonight for the second race of the series! It was fun to see so many paddlers racing outside their comfort zone. Still computing the results but OC paddlers moved up huge in the standings this week.
