(name for older surfskiers and canoers originating from Bellingham, WA, USA)
- Barnacle = 60 yr or older paddler (aka Ancient Murrelet)
- Some other paddling communities have similar designations such as the 60+ yr old “Fossils” on Oahu
- Grand Barnacle = 70 yr or older paddler
- ??? = 80 yr or older paddler
- Don't ask a Barnacle about what a “Barnacle” is, because they can't remember squat! * … —-

If you do a downwind run from Drano to the Hatch (Drano Lake to the Hatchery - if you know Columbia River Gorge downwinders you will know where this is) on or after your 80th birthday you can get a nameplate added to the Drano @ 80 Trophy.
Challenge created in 2024 by Bellhamsters, Dan Mayhew (class of 2037) and Duncan Howat (class of 2024). (The Barnacle Pledge below is not required - it is just there to generate some enthusiasm toward achieving this goal.).

- Any paddler may administer the pledge.
- Whoever administered the pledge is also taking or reaffirming their commitment to the pledge.

To defeat the ravages of time
And to aid my fellow paddlers
