… a little history of “The Barnacles” that I know of, is most were abandoned by their parents (some didn't even have any) some didn't make it out of middle school, some barely did. They became qualified as invasive by the scientific community when they generally hit Puberty. That's the worst time . Many measures were tried to stop their spread past Bellingham, and so far have been somewhat successful , although a few have escaped the waters of Bellingham Bay, where the largest ,most dangerous concentration seems to be, although you can find them occasionally on Lake Whatcom, and very seasonally in the Columbia River Gorge. They all could be Cirripedia, but it's too hard for them to pronounce. Blame RD for the name….
