Ancient Murrelets

There are a couple of paddlers in this group, one in particular, that refer to themselves as “ancient murrelets”1) . (not me though). So I'm looking through my giant bird book with live calls, and it describes the ancient murrelet thus:

“The chunky murrelet's etc,( that fits,) goes on the oceans surface, uses it's wings,(when not injured) for propulsion, It goes low over the water with fast wing beats, then falls to the surface to stop.( Yep),. Males go ashore and sing a scratchy jumble of squeaks and trills from low perches, (yep) in a effort to attract friends , maybe to secure a mate. Size 10 inches.”
