I heard from a neighbor that a kayaker died yesterday in the South Sound. Anyone know the details?

Yes I have learned James Lesemann was the father in a young family in Everett. Lover of nature and ran a accomplished photography business out of that city. He was probably out doing shots on an interesting day, I can see that. I imagine he was in a decked boat.
What a tragedy.

Very sad! He made the 911 call at 12:37. The Tulalip Tribal Police found his boat 500 yards off Priest Point fifty mins later. The tide was getting close to low so the water temperature because of the Snohomish River near PP would have probably been low forties. The article said the wind was 16 gusting to 21. The Steamboat Flats Marker wind gauge shows low 20’s to low 30’s, gusting to high 30’s or more, with rain squalls limiting visibility at times. With the Tulalip Tribal police boat, the Everett Coast Guard, the Everett Naval Station police boat, and the Port of Everett police boat all within close proximity, 3 miles or less.
