Inside Passage Tidal Races
Tidal Surf Spots
Paddling tidal surf can be challenging and fun, but it needs to be approached with preparation, knowledge, and skill. And it is a great idea to begin in the company of folks who know what they are doing and have been there before. Do your own research and be aware of what you are getting into and where your limits are. And BC's water is mostly very cold. The Inside Passage has many tidal races and is famous in particular for some world class standing waves created by tidal currents.

Other Tidal Race Features
The Inside Passage has many other tidal races with very strong current that do not necessarily generate surfable waves or that only generate waves in excessively dangerous conditions. They also can demonstrate the power of their current with hazards such as whirlpools.
