Recent Deception Pass

Paul Reavley Apr 7 #33511

Rob Beck just posted this on youtube. I believe it is recent (recorded by Tom Swetish on shore?)

Wilson and Ana posted a zoomed in clip on Instagram which conveys size and turbulence pretty well.

Great video of those two…great skill! Amazing how the current was really cooking.

David - I totally agree. Apparently that was Robert Beck's own footage from that session - he was there and happened to notice them out in the Pass and had a camera handy. I'll take all of that kind of footage we can get!!

Cool that you found my video, I was with my family at the pass when we saw there were people out there, so I ran to grab my camera and try to get some footage. Along the way I ran into Tom and Jeff who had a sweet setup on the rocks facing the big waves out west. I figured more footage never hurts and it was too fun watching them in those conditions to not capture it.

I typically like to fly under the radar attention wise, but I have this idea of making/taking some videos of the Bellingham paddle community. Would that be ok with people? I'd love to get some interviews especially with the barnacles and pick their brains. I just think that the community here seems pretty special with a lot of cool stories, and I'd like to try tell those stories via video or something. I think we have a shot to hit it big, something like, “The Real Lives of Bellingham Barnacles”. There's more than enough drama, Will there be cookies? What are in those cookies?. Does cookie choice affect downwind conditions? Who knows?

Barnacles have brains? Is the science community aware of this?
