Stealth camping

Well I would love to try and chill with Chris Farley and park by his van down buy the river. But since his passing and because I don't know any river side stealth camping spots near hood river, I thought I would ask. Anyone out there have any recommendations for stealth camping close to Hood River? I have been camping in my Van in the hills above Stevenson for several years when playing in the gorge but now that the festivities are centered in Hood River, Stevenson is a bit far to drive after three runs and a few beers. If anyone knows some local logging roads with landings close to hood river or sneaky gravel pits that make a good spot to park for the knight let me know. I'm not setting up camp, just parking up for the night and sleeping. If anyone has a pice of property that doesn't mind having someone parking up for the night that would be swell. Other than a guy sitting outside his van in the morning enjoying the sun and a cup of joe , I will be quite and gone all day.

Bill,

Some folks have had luck parking in the gravel lot across the road from the cabins at Bobs beach, the noisy trains can be an issue………

Thanks for the tip. I have a number of places I have used near Stevenson. Mostly in the hills just north west of town. I came in late one night and stayed at the Home Valley takeout/put in…..Once was enough. The train was just too much. Not so bad if they would lay off the damn horn! I'm looking for a place more around Hood River.

Hey Bill,

Memaloose is a campground about 10 minutes east of a HR, but the beauty is there is a rest stop there also… Meaning you can park for a nice stretch, and stroll down to the facilities for facilitation (including nice showers). I stay there all the time in the campground when not hanging with local friends. Another option is the scenic highway above Mosier, there is a really nice pull out that overlooks the river basin, beautiful views (but no facilities). And finally, in the town itself you can take your vehicle down a little dirt road directly under the bridge and stealth out for a night with little chance of visitors. But if visitors do come, they usually bring free samples of meth.

Bill,

I'm camping with the family at Timberlake Friday and Saturday nights. If you bring your bottle of aged Mescal you can add your Van to our reservation.

Msg me.
