Went up to Deep Cove, BC for the Tuesday Night Race series last night. Every week the course and format are different, but the great scenery and turnout stay the same. This is really worth the drive, about an hour and a half with traffic.
This week's race was called a “surprise race”. Racers had to find three buoys (Easter Eggs) hidden within a geographic area and round or touch them, then race back to the line. Macca Hynard showed his racing class after making a wrong turn and chasing Wes Hammer and I down. He and Wes Hammer then duked it out in a fantastic sprint finish at the end. Seriously impressive! Total distance raced was a smidgen over 8km, and the average speed was “toasty”. Beers and grub at the Raven pub afterward sealed the deal.

Hey Eric, I averaged 8.3 on the evening - and those last couple of k were in high 8's with a couple of bursts into 9's that I couldn't match… I just didn't have that extra gear!
