The herd was fast today. I had a very good race. I normally find a bad spot to be in somewhere during the race. But this year looks like everyone has a peloton and is in great shape. Not so many rowers. The HPK kids showed up (top five spots all HPK's in the “younger” category). Nine of top 12 finishes were HPK.

A gut wrenching race for top OC-2's. the top three finished within 3 seconds.

I finished 23rd which is pretty close to my normal - but feeling pretty feisty about it because there were so many hardy paddlers out. The only irritation was the rapid fire results. I had no chance to tell any lies about anything. It's all there in the results. dang.

The start line was a little squishy, but everything else was like clockwork. Really awesome volunteers backing up a seasoned race director. I heard a few surprises cropped up, but the racers thought it was seamless. Such a great way to kick off the season. Well done folks.
