Paul Clement & I made the trip (although not together which was dumb)… and raced the sunny, flat 6.2 miler. It was co-hosted by an outrigger club, so lots of us single bladed types. Paul duked it out with the sculls, as those were the only craft fast enough to give him something to chase. I battled with a fellow from Portland and we drag raced for the last 2 miles to the line where he got me by 2 seconds to win the OC1 field.
Interesting currents coming out of the Puyallup River made for a slow first 3.5 miles.
