There are some errors in these results, I was just in front of Clement and Joost.

ach. ten whole long miles of paddle-crash with Tom, LB, Marc W. The results don't include my exercise induced nap with lots of old-man snorting and complaining. The rest of the weekend will be filled with groaning and grunting just trying to pull on socks and T-shirts.

I guess it's worth it to prop up the cherished image of my youthful enthusiasm. Conditions sure made it more fun for pre-race and after-race ceremonies. Fantastic race org. Good support crew. Registration was crisp, food was good, even had race number collection service going on. Great race bling by Paul as usual.

Dead flat means there are fewer excuses. The open drafting played more of a role. Being in that barnacle cluster with my arch-rivals made me much faster. I noticed Dean hit the jackpot behind the OC-2. At least he had the sportsmanship to jump off eventually. But then Traci L. started pulling in the gap and knowing Dean that had to be disturbing. The turns introduced a joker: if you didn't get your turn right it was easy to find yourself a wave off your draft. Plus there were some pretty good tangles in our group at the turn. I bet LB had a tiny rudder. He had a wide turn that messed with Marc's fantasy world of riding his outside bow wave.

Hope Michael's race photo's don't show all the mucus I'm blowing and all the tears running down my face. Well, actually - probably won't hurt my charming good looks any. Is the bulging-neck-veins look “out”?

Nicholas, you stopped before the finish line, and they passed you at the end. Spicey Pony Head for dessert (awesome film Dude!).

Last week's soup was spicy pony head. I had two bowlz, missuer. Today's special was double's wash sucker punch, served shamelessly late in the race!

I did cross in front of them, but in my defence, DJ prefers an early start and I, an early finish.

Further more, upon my slow motion arrival to the finish line, I detected the smell of lovely food wafting through the air and observed the timing officials were sampling the delicious soup, and not accurately timing my triumphant arrival. No palms, no trumpets… Just breadcrumbs and soup stained smiles. I noticed this because such things are easy to do when one paddles at the rate of thousands of seconds per millimeter.

Hey All,

Thanks again for putting up with the cancellation of last week and still showing up yesterday! About seventy paddlers and almost sixty boats…not to bad for a week delay and sorry no wind this time :(

How about Abbey Scoggins and Anna Swetish (two Jrs.) in the double surfski….beat them while you can because tomorrow you won't be able too!! (and Abbey's mom, Sharon taking the win in W-Hpk short course!)

Traci Landboe and Jeff Maloney were smokin' out on the course with the two speedsters out front Zeegers/Clements and Cryder with a minor detail (repeat after me, “finish line is around the Yellow Marker” pre race meeting info) at the end….BBOP Oc 6 did great and was moving fast at the finish!

David D was rowing like a mad man…should have made him do THREE laps? It was great viewing from the shore watching all the different races within the races going on…The Arthritis Division, Bumstead winning it yesterday over Reivers, Bussinger, Gregory, etc! “The young and restless and Arthritis” division #2 (no wind, I am bored…) Jeff Hilburn taking the Short course followed by Goolsby and others!

Food, Thanks to all who brought goodies and Coffee and took the time to bake stuff (AWESOME), and Soup Goddess, Hilde!!!

Steve at the CbC, awesome set up help and location, where else you going to find a hot wood stove!! Rescue teams..Greg and Kai (CBC), Larry and crew from Guemes Island Search and Rescue, “The Boys from the HOOD,” Mike and George and Cameraman Kim C!

Thanks to the RACE COMMITTEE…Kim, Christos, Adrienne, Julie, Sandy G. and Paul C Designs! (did I forget anyone????)

Our TWO main sponsors…Kulshan Brewery and Rudy's Pizza, THANK YOU!

Thanks for racing….NEXT is Jetty Island (Everett) April 2nd!

Cheers, Peter
