Most awesome conditions with a flood tide and a SW wind. Sun came out just in time for the start. I did the race in a tandem with DJ Magoo. He would squeeze his eyes shut and use instinct to find the right line to follow. This wasn't working, so we followed Kirk instead. We were first, with Don K. second, Morris and Debbie third, Dean fourth and Hegadus (Canadian Jeff) fifth. Dean had the best line for the day. In case you aren't aware of what this race entails, we race from Anacortes to Bellingham on a flood tide using any route we want as long as we enter the Rosario Channel. Twenty-two miles of currents, rips and waves. We didn't lose anyone, so it's safe to say we will do this again next year. Thank you Deb and Morris for another great race and some even greater hospitality after the race.

Thanks again Morris and Debbie for organizing an awesome race and a super nice dinner! The venue was again outstanding, outpaced only by your hospitality. Thanks Julie for piloting the safety boat, thanks Mike for making the boat available, and thanks everyone for joining. A very nice day.

Actually Kirk slipped in a few boat lengths before me, with Brad then right behind, all of us on different lines. Yep, it was painful!

Wow, that sounds like fun indeed. Are you going to post your different routes (any GPS tracks?) – or are these your personal secret weapons? Kirk, did you have to tattoo a map on your stomach – or did you try to hold it in your teeth again – or was it tucked under your chin?
While planning a trip (that never materialized) to the smaller island chains of Matia, Barnes, Clark, Sucia, etc. I wondered about accessing them from Bellingham. Have any of you done this route? I imagine there might be constant cross chop however, but I'm not familiar with that stretch of water at all.
I'd love to try this A to B race sometime, (yes and since I'm slower, you can just save me a piece of dessert),
