Downwind
Inland
Vänern (Lake) Very large lake (largest in the EU), SW is prevailing wind direction which can create 60+ kms of fetch in this large lake, but you could be blown very far off shore. There are offshore windfarms at the north end of the lake. Limited good shoreline access and degree of potential offshore exposure if you do a route with offshore wind may partially explain why the routes we have found and listed here require NNW winds (blowing onshore)
Viken - Helsingborg 15 km (staying close to shore - you can paddle out farther for possibly bigger waves and a longer run but stay away from the heavy ship traffic). This course has been used for the Aterra Wavechallenge (map)
Helsingborg - Höganäs ~21 km video (Svinabådan lighthouse approx. at Viken)
Leif Davidsson: “very technical paddling and most of the time crossing waves”
Skälderviken Run
Arild Hamn to Klitterhus Ängelholm 17 km Downwindable.com (west to east run across this bay)
Alternate takeout - Sibirienstranden (Sibirien Beach) - from the water there may not be obvious landmarks so you may want to scout/mark your takeout beforehand. Leif Davidsson: “The Sibirien takeout is a little difficult to find when you don't know exactly where it is….Why not Klitterhus as a goal? Less angled surf and the waves are crazy good against Sibirien, after Arild it is magic in many places. And the waves at the end, yes you who will get the honor of experiencing them.”
