Flatwater

With the popularity of sea kayaking in Sweden, you should be able to get information from local paddlers about many places to paddle along with what you need to know about tides, conditions, weather, etc. for safe and enjoyable outings. (We hope it is obvious that most or all of the following paddles are “flat” or “calm” when the conditions dictate, and unless they have an unusual amount of protection (like canals or inland waterways where the wind and waves are blocked?) from weather, tides, etc. many of these paddles can also be quite “unflat” when conditions turn rough.)

Varför (Why) Surfski?

Conditions

  • A number of countries including Sweden like to refer to wind speed in terms of Meters/Second (m/s). The conversion to miles per hour is (mph = m/s * 2.237). For knots (knots = m/s * 1.944). For kilometers per hour (kmh = m/s * 3.6)
  • Water & Wind Temperatures 5° C = 41° F;10° C = 50° F; 20° C = 68° F (°F= (9/5 * °C) + 32)
