Barnacle” is a term used in Bellingham, WA. to refer to local older paddlers (60+ yrs old) who are still tenacious racers and downwind enthusiasts. Also sometimes referred to as “ancient murrelets” <sup>barnacles) 70+ yr old paddlers are called “Grand Barnacles”
