Back Side and Butt Rubbing

This can be a nagging problem particularly for folks who have more prominent bony protusions like a longer coccyx. Sometimes a coccyx will rub in some surfski bucket shapes despite excellent technique and requires some elevation off of the seat.

  • Technique - review Stroke Technique - do any changes help?
    • ? Focusing more on pushing down with one foot/ pulling up with the other foot
    • “Rotate forward moving your bottom away from back of the bucket, not pushing back into the back of the bucket ”
  • Experiment with Padding : some say they find more help with padded shorts or even sew their own padding into their paddling shorts
