Superlicous

That's the word that I came up with to describe the conditions off Marine Park this morning. It was like the Gorge only colder and we didn't have any shuttle bunnies. Most of us arrived expecting calm conditions. Out by the #2 buoy, there were some big white caps that needed investigating. Lipp and John R. got there first. It was like powder snow on a steep mountain. The 3 of us started doing laps in some of the best waves you could ask for. Even going upwind was joyous because you knew that as soon as you turned around, you'd be in heaven again. Some of the rides were so long, you had to remind yourself why you even bothered to bring a paddle. At one point, I passed a sailboat that was also going down wind, and I did it without making a single stroke. John R. fell off the back of his boat as he tried to climb a steep wave on his upwind run. The whole bay became one big amusement park as the waves worked their way closer to shore. The outgoing tide against a steady brisk wind must have been the perfect recipe for the morning's conditions.
