Coming to a theatre near you, the sequel to the one of our stupidest paddles, which was referred to as 'The Lemming Run', is another WP production from this mornings paddle.
Lemmings II is the story of 17 paddlers headed out into a fog that was thicker than our skulls. As soon as we paddled out of sight of the shoreline, each boat and paddler pointed in a different direction and hailed, “This way!” Lucky for us, Reivers was there and has much experience at getting lost. He took control of the group after convincing us that he once got lost on Lake Padden on a nice day. Dan W. became Reivers navigator when he produced a drawing of a compass. We paddled to places we'd never seen before. Did you know that there are million dollar houses on Chuckanut Bay? Funny thing was that half the group set out for Whiskey Rock and the other half wanted just to go to Governor's and back. Somehow we managed to cover the same distances and converged at Clarke's Point on the return trip. The group I was in never did find Dot Island. I think they moved it during the night.

knuckleheads on parade. Each one a genius in their own mind. Wierd to see - I swear the gulls were laughing their heads off. Actually we were laughing at ourselves. Bright Sun overhead, warm conditions, superflat conditions. Nothing really threatening. Just the chance of putting in wwwaaaayyyy more mileage than called for. LG is right about me getting lost on a lake. I'm still not sure if it was Padden, Whatcom or Superior. Could have been Baikal. Or maybe the town of Ferndale's holding pond. I could not go in a straight line no matter how hard I tried. When I finally got sight of land it just blew my mind.
Mental note: pull that dang mapping GPS outa the trunk and put it in my PFD. Rumor has it Morris had a mapping GPS, but didn't want to spoil the comedy. A lot of us had GPS gidgy-gadies. We just were stuupid about gettin them to show a compas. Oy vey. Its all fun and games until somebody gets their eye poked out. Then we'll be sorry.
sheesh.
