 Despite the forecast promising unreal downwind conditions locally, a few Bellingham paddlers chose to battle the wind on the unsalty waters of Lake Union and the ship canal. Jonas Ecker dominated the field, breaking away in the rough chop from the University Bridge to Gasworks Park. Paul C and I tried to reel him in but could never close the gap and settled for second place. Aaron Small rounded out the top 3.

-Ha, wondered if anyone would notice that. I am approaching squalicum beach near the lumber plant. With the river current, rebound from the rock wall and the wind / fetch that is often the biggest and most technical part of the run. Jolly good fun.
