Need a trip report. Judging by the wind on our bay, the conditions should have been good up there. 6 of us did a downwinder from Vendovi Island - of course, we had to paddle against wind and current to get there. Still, it was a great paddle.\\ Need a trip report. -7 made the trip, Gwyn did the shuttle  which was very helpful. Got there about 11:00 or so, not a breath of wind. However there was already wind at squamish.12:00. leaves started moving, 12:30, waves starting to form,1:00 not too bad, some good rideable stuff.1:15 start. 55boats.As we went down the bay they got bigger, and smaller, funny and fun stuff, large amount of run off coming from the river, water was a gray color. Warren was off like a shot,Allan was doing well out to my left, David was inside paddling lake a well oiled Don Quixote wind mill, and moving. Then we turned the corner, was kinda flat for a bit, then sports fans it picked right up. The kite board site had the wind at about 27k, which is what, 37mph, It was some ride to the finish. Shane said he'd try to post results here. About all I know was Warren finished about 2nd overall: from our group, Kim, David, Allan, or the other way around, Me.I'm not sure how everyone else finished. It was chunky monkey at the finish, but the temp was great. 80's Downwinders are the shazam. I kept saying the word, but never turned into Captain Marvel.  D+7 made the trip, Gwyn did the shuttle which was very helpful. Got there about 11:00 or so, not a breath of wind.  Thanks Duncan and Gwyn for driving! Thanks Duncan and Gwyn for driving!

-It was definitely a strange course, with surf at the beginning and end, and misery in the middle!  Compounded, or I should say confounded, by opposing currents of an incoming tide and outgoing river water, it was hard to figure out which course to take, or even to say which course was best.+It was definitely a strange course, with surf at the beginning and end, and misery in the middle! -I was outside: Good at the beginning, bad around the big point (read sucked big time), good approaching the finish, bad at the very end!  There were times I would gain 100 yards on a boat on the inside, only to have them catch back up!+I was outside: Good at the beginning, bad around the big point (read sucked big time), good approaching the finish, bad at the very end! -A light breeze greeted paddlers at registration – but the wind slowly and steadily filled in.  We had the fairest start anyone's ever seen for this race ... the threat of time penalties apparently worked!+A light breeze greeted paddlers at registration – but the wind slowly and steadily filled in. -After fighting through a flat patch at the corner, paddlers were able to reconnect with the wind and waves coming into Squamish.  The breeze at Nexen Beach was in the 25 Knot range, so paddlers were surfing through the finish line faster than we could write down their numbers!+After fighting through a flat patch at the corner, paddlers were able to reconnect with the wind and waves coming into Squamish.
