Headed out of marine about noon 25-gusting 40 to the tree, look up ahead and see these 4 black things sticking out of the water, thinking what the heck are those. Yep 4 dudes surfing the shore break. Well Bob and I paddle on by ,and to give you a idea of wave size, couldn't' see him when he was in the trough“s. I guess he is kinda short though. A little hectic but fast , hit 13. Wore my 4-3 kite wet suit and felt better than if I would have used my dry suit. I think in these situations the the really good full wet suit is the best if things go wrong, which can Never happen to us right? Maybe? Could? Perhaps? At this older age due to mistakes of my past I'm on cat life # 8 and hope to keep it that way.D

I arrived at about 12:20 and it was good. It was pretty off-shore which made the upwind paddle to the tree 'relatively' easy. The waves were big & moving but pretty far outside, so I had to be careful not to get too excited and not cut back into Marine early enough. Right about the time Duncan & Bob headed in a squall moved in and things got gusty and unorganized. I ended up doing laps for almost two hours. When I got out Steve and Morris were loading up for a shuttle to Larabee, I'd like to hear how that went.
Here is a 1 min video of the waves yesterday:

Here's how it went…..Scoggins BokBokBok chickened out at wildcat and made us go back to do laps at marine. No glory.

No harm in that Steve. There will be other windy days for the rest of your life… and even at 2:30 yesterday, it was actually getting dark, & we all know how that goes.

I've been using the back country skiing analogy lately; when the powder is super good, it often comes along with high-avalanche conditions. When the waves are good, well, things can go sideways. Everyone has to play their own risk/reward analysis game in their head before they go out and play.

This is possibly the most intelligent big water post I have read. That's a hard call and anything but chicken.
