<> ===== Wind Changes, Where or Whether to Paddle, And Lucky To Be Off the Water 2014 ===== **wind today\\ Dennis Mowry** \\ 11/06/14 #16493 Looks like the wind is picking up. Anyone planning on heading out today anytime? **Larry Goolsby** \\ 11/06/14 #16494 From my living room, it looks big. Bellingham Bay Cam shows gusts in the high forties and a few fifties in the last hour. I'm going to wait and see if it drops off a bit before I rush down there.\\ LG **gerstlz** \\ 11/06/14 #16495 I met Bob and Dan at Marine Park about 9:30. It's not often I jump back in my car and decide not to go out. It looked crazy out there. **lori & beau whitehead** \\ 11/06/14 #16498 We launched from Marine Park around 1pm and headed for Little Squalicum Beach. It was pretty good off of Marine but not as big as I'd expect for that kind of wind. But the last 1.5 miles into Little Squalicum made it all worth while. Probably the best I've ridden. Then it was time to dodge the telephone pole driftwood churning up near the beach. Today was a good day. **Kevin Olney** \\ 11/06/14 #16499 Too big all day for my tastes. Finally got out about 3:30 from MP once it calmed down somewhat. Did some laps solo, then Dennis joined, then MG showed up. We paddled down to the point before the tunnel and surfed back. Awesome! Great fun! Within 5 minutes of getting out of the water the wind picked up from a steady 20knts to around 50+! 4-5' breaking waves on the beach at MP! Glad we got in when we did. Just sayin': be careful **Rick Lingbloom** 11/06/14 #16500 We're you on a boat or board Beau? Both sound intense! Rick **Edward** \\ 11/07/14 #16502 Lake Whatcom was rocking today too. I put in at the fire station on the south end and ran up to Bloedel. The south end was nasty with the wind and waves coming from both the south and the east and meeting in the middle. Once I got past the island the waves became more uniform and I was able get in some nice rides. What seemed like 30 second rides were probably more like 8 to 10 seconds but super fun. I can only imagine what the bay was like and I was glad I was not out there. Eddie **lori & beau whitehead** \\ 11/07/14 #16503 We were on boards Rick. Getting equipment loaded on cars was the sketchiest part of the day. **Reivers Dustin** \\ 11/07/14 #16504 Dude! You must have put boats in water in the dark - since this was posted at 6:30am. Awesome sunrise run. **Michael Gregory** \\ 11/07/14 #16505 Whoa, we were soo fortunate to be off the water when the big wind hit. I was half way across the lawn at MP and bam, the wind blew the ski and I ten feet. Wind tore the ski out of my grasp and I chased the ski all across the lawn. Wild wind! Scary bit is, it came up so suddenly.
